Arkansas Agriculture Gets Boost with New Biosensor Technology Expert

The University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture has appointed Eric McLamore as professor of biosensor engineering, bringing specialized expertise that could benefit Arkansas farmers and rural communities.

McLamore’s work focuses on biosensor technology with potential applications in monitoring water quality, detecting food safety threats, and protecting animal health across the state’s agricultural sector.

The appointment is part of the Division of Agriculture’s efforts to integrate advanced diagnostic technologies into farming operations. Biosensors are devices that use biological components to detect chemical substances, offering rapid results that traditional laboratory testing methods may not provide as quickly.

The technology could help Arkansas producers identify issues more rapidly, potentially reducing crop losses and improving response times to agricultural challenges.

McLamore joins the university’s faculty at a time when precision agriculture and real-time monitoring systems are becoming increasingly important to farm management.
