Most SWEPCO Customers to Have Power Restored Tonight Following Winter Storm

Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO) reported Monday that approximately 17,700 customers remain without power following Winter Storm Fern, with restoration efforts expected to be largely completed by tonight.

As of 11:30 a.m., SWEPCO crews have successfully restored power to approximately 155,373 customers across the service territory since the winter storm hit the region.

All Arkansas customers have been fully restored. In Texas, about 3,910 customers in Carthage, Kilgore, and Henderson in the southern Longview area remain without power, with restoration expected by 10 p.m. tonight.

Louisiana has seen the most significant remaining outages, with 15,580 customers still affected. The majority of those outages are concentrated in the Natchitoches area, where SWEPCO has shifted major resources. The company restored approximately 10,000 customers in that area on Sunday.

Estimated restoration times for affected areas are set for 10 p.m. tonight, with the exception of Mansfield, which is expected to be restored by 10 p.m. Wednesday.

Improving weather conditions with afternoon temperatures rising into the low to mid-40s are aiding restoration efforts, though morning travel remains hazardous due to overnight freezing.

SWEPCO officials remind customers that the company cannot restore power to homes or businesses with damage to the service entrance, which is owned by the customer. Those with damage must have a licensed electrician complete repairs before power can be reconnected.

Customers can check outage status at SWEPCO.com/OutageMap or report outages through the SWEPCO mobile app or by calling 888-218-3919.
