Clayton, a national home builder, celebrated the grand opening of its new manufacturing facility in Conway, Arkansas on March 5, marking the company’s first new facility since 2016.
The company is investing $42 million to modernize an existing 220,000-square-foot facility. The indoor, climate-controlled facility is expected to produce 3,000 homes annually and create more than 250 jobs in the region.
Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders attended the grand opening ceremony alongside company executives and state and local leaders. Guests toured the facility and heard from multiple speakers about its economic impact.
“Arkansas was recently ranked the number one state for inbound movers for the second year in a row, and companies like Clayton are ensuring that some of these new Arkansas residents not only have an affordable place to live but also a great place to work,” said Governor Sanders.
Colt Davis, President of Clayton Manufacturing, said the facility represents the company’s vision to develop housing innovations.
“The thousands of homes built here each year will help bring attainable homeownership within reach for families across the region,” Davis said. “We are incredibly grateful for the people of Conway welcoming us and for local and state leaders supporting the development of our newest home building facility.”
The Conway facility marks Clayton’s 41st home building location nationwide.
Clint O’Neal, executive director of the Arkansas Economic Development Commission, said the facility addresses both the nationwide housing shortage and creates economic opportunities in Arkansas.
Conway Mayor Bart Castleberry said the project reflects the strength of the local workforce and continued economic momentum.
