Jonesboro Pedestrian, 73, Killed After Being Struck by Vehicle at Main Street Intersection

A 73-year-old Jonesboro man died Wednesday, March 4, 2026, after being struck by a vehicle while walking along a sidewalk in downtown Jonesboro, according to the Arkansas State Police.

Edwin Dickson, 73, of Jonesboro, was walking on the west sidewalk near the intersection of South Main Street and West Washington Avenue when a 2016 Jeep Compass, traveling northbound on Main Street, turned westbound and struck him. The crash occurred at approximately 2:45 p.m. under cloudy skies on dry road conditions.

Dickson was transported to St. Bernards Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries. His remains were transferred to the Craighead County Coroner’s Office. No other injuries were reported in connection with the crash.

The Arkansas State Police is leading the investigation into the fatal collision. No additional information regarding the driver of the Jeep Compass has been released at this time.
