Arkansas Breaking News is an independent news site covering crime, courts, public safety and statewide news across Arkansas. This page explains how we report, what we publish and how to reach us. It is maintained by publisher Field Walsh and was last reviewed September 13, 2026.
Who owns us
Arkansas Breaking News is owned and operated by Square World Media, an independent local news company based in Texarkana, Texas. Square World Media also publishes TXK Today. We have no outside investors and no affiliation with any political party, law enforcement agency or government body.
How we report
Our reporting is built on primary sources: court filings and dockets, police and sheriff’s office reports, Arkansas State Police releases, agency documents obtained through public records requests, meeting agendas and minutes, and on-the-record interviews. When a story rests on a document, we say so, and where the document is public we link to it or quote it directly.
We attribute information to its source. When we cannot independently confirm a claim, we say who is making it. We do not publish anonymous accusations, and we do not rewrite other outlets’ reporting as our own.
Crime and courts coverage
An arrest or a charge is an accusation, not a finding of guilt. We use “accused,” “charged” and “alleged” deliberately, we report the specific charges as filed, and we follow cases to their outcome when we can. We do not publish arrest blotters or booking photos; that practice ended in July 2026 and will not return. We do not name juveniles accused of crimes unless they are charged as adults, and we do not identify victims of sexual offenses.

Bylines
Stories carrying a reporter’s name were reported and written by that person. Items bylined “Ark. Breaking News Staff” are compiled from official releases or public documents by our staff and edited for accuracy and clarity.
Independence from advertising
Our newsroom decisions are made separately from our advertising business. Advertisers have no say in what we cover or how. Paid or sponsored content is labeled as such. We do not accept payment to publish, alter or remove news stories.
Updates and corrections
Developing stories are updated in place and marked with an update time. Factual errors are corrected promptly and transparently. Our full Corrections Policy explains how to report an error and what happens when you do.
