How to report an error
Email [email protected] with the link to the story, the passage you believe is wrong, and what you believe is correct. If you have a document that supports the correction, such as a court order, police report or official statement, attach it. Publisher Field Walsh reviews every request.
What happens next
- Factual errors are corrected in the story as soon as they are verified. A correction note stating what was wrong and when it was fixed is added to the story.
- Clarifications are added when a story was accurate but incomplete or open to misreading.
- Developing stories are updated in place. New information is added with an update time. Updates are not corrections unless earlier information was wrong.
- Headlines and social posts containing an error are corrected or reposted with a note.
We aim to respond to every correction request within one business day.
Case outcomes
If you were named in a story and your charges were later dropped, dismissed, reduced or expunged, or you were acquitted, send us the court documentation and we will update the story to reflect the outcome. We do this at no charge.
Removal requests
We do not unpublish accurate reporting on matters of public record, and we do not accept payment to remove or alter stories. We will consider removing or de-identifying a story where there is a documented safety risk, where a juvenile was named in error, or where a victim of a crime asks not to be identified.
