Arkansas State Police investigating assault on Norris Unit officer

TUCKER, Ark. — Arkansas State Police are investigating after a correctional officer was assaulted Thursday at the Larry B. Norris Unit of the Arkansas Division of Correction.

According to ASP, the incident happened at about 11:30 a.m. June 18 after ADC staff returned inmate Christopher Ivey, 45, to his cell. State Police said Ivey stabbed an officer in the facial area with a contraband weapon.

The officer was treated and released from a local medical center, according to the agency.

ASP said Ivey was most recently sentenced to ADC in June 2025 after convictions for possession of firearms by certain persons, two counts of terroristic threatening and first-degree battery. He is serving a 96-month sentence.
