CENTERVILLE, Ark. — Arkansas State Police are investigating a shooting that happened during a disturbance at a Yell County home on July 2, after a paramedic fired a weapon and struck a man, authorities said.
The Yell County Sheriff’s Office requested the investigation. At about 6 a.m., sheriff’s deputies and emergency medical services were called to a home in the 10000 block of Prairie Lane in Centerville. A 29-year-old man at the home became combative with paramedics, and during the disturbance a paramedic fired a weapon, striking him, according to state police.
The man was taken to Dardanelle Regional Medical Center with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. No one else was seriously injured.
At the conclusion of the investigation, special agents with the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division will present their findings to the Yell County prosecuting attorney, who will determine how to proceed.
The investigation remains ongoing. State police said no additional information would be released at this time.
