Square World Media, LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates ArkansasBreakingNews.com and the Arkansas Breaking News mobile app (together, the “Service”). This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
Information you provide
- Contact information if you email us, submit a news tip, or sign up for a newsletter on the website.
Information collected automatically by the app
- Location (optional). If you allow it, the app uses your device’s approximate location only to show local weather. Location is sent to Apple’s WeatherKit service to retrieve a forecast and is not stored on our servers. You can decline the permission and pick a city instead, or turn it off at any time in iOS Settings.
- Push notification token. If you enable notifications, a device token is stored with our push provider, OneSignal, so we can send breaking-news alerts. We do not receive your name, phone number, or email through this process.
- Subscription status. If you purchase a Members subscription, Apple sends our server a signed transaction record containing a transaction ID, product ID, and expiration date. We use it solely to verify your membership and unlock member content. We never see or store your payment details; purchases are handled entirely by Apple.
- Diagnostic data. The app may report crashes and basic device information (model, OS version, app version) to help us fix problems.
Information collected on the website
- Standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) and analytics provided by Google Analytics, which uses cookies. See Google’s privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
How we use information
- To provide the Service, including local weather, breaking-news alerts, and member content.
- To verify and manage subscriptions.
- To understand how the Service is used and improve it.
- To respond to your messages.
We do not sell your personal information and we do not use it for third-party advertising tracking.
Who we share information with
- Apple — App Store purchases, subscription verification, and WeatherKit forecasts.
- OneSignal — delivery of push notifications.
- Google Analytics — website usage statistics.
- Hosting providers that run our servers.
- Authorities, if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public.
Member content
Police Activity summaries available to Members are generated from publicly broadcast public-safety radio traffic. They are preliminary, unverified, and provided for informational purposes only. We make efforts to exclude names and other personal details from summaries.
Data retention
Subscription records are kept while your membership is active and for a reasonable period afterward for accounting purposes. Push tokens are deleted when you disable notifications or uninstall the app. Website logs are retained for a limited time for security and troubleshooting.
Your choices
- Location: control in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services.
- Notifications: control in iOS Settings → Notifications.
- Subscription: manage or cancel in iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
- Cookies: control in your browser settings.
- Access or deletion: email us at the address below and we will respond within 30 days.
Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Security
We use industry-standard measures, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top will change, and material changes will be noted on this page.
