U.S. Representative Bruce Westerman (AR-04) released a statement Friday regarding the launch of Operation Epic Fury, a military operation targeting Iran.
In his statement, Westerman characterized Iran as “the number one sponsor of terrorism” and cited the country’s pursuit of nuclear weapons as a threat to regional and global stability.
“For decades, Iran has been the number one sponsor of terrorism with actions against Americans and many other nations across the globe while oppressing and murdering their own people,” Westerman said. “Their thirst for nuclear weapons has further threatened regional and global stability, and their defiance, time and time again, to comply with international standards continues to threaten democracy around the world.”
The congressman said his prayers are with U.S. military personnel carrying out the mission.
Westerman represents Arkansas’ 4th Congressional District, which includes portions of southwest Arkansas near the Texarkana area.
