Governor Sanders Authorizes Additional $50,000 for April Storm Recovery

Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has amended a previous executive order to provide an additional $50,000 in disaster relief funding for severe weather that impacted the state in early April 2025.

The governor signed Executive Order 26-05 on February 18, 2026, amending her original emergency declaration from April 2, 2025. The original order, EO 25-07, was issued in response to severe storms, tornadoes, and flooding that affected Arkansas communities and public properties.

The additional funds will be drawn from the Governor’s Disaster Response and Recovery Fund and distributed at the discretion of the Director of the Arkansas Division of Emergency Management. The money will be used to cover both program and administrative costs related to the disaster recovery efforts.

According to the executive order, the severe weather brought “adverse circumstances” upon Arkansas citizens and public properties, with affected political subdivisions requiring supplemental state assistance to recover from losses.

The funding authorization was made under the authority of Arkansas Code Annotated §§ 12-75-101 and § 12-75-114.
