Mt. Vernon man charged with child exploitation in White County

WHITE COUNTY, Ark. — A Mt. Vernon man is facing felony charges after allegedly soliciting nude images from a minor over a two-year period, according to court documents filed Tuesday in White County Circuit Court.

David Isaac Gauvey, 29, is charged with engaging children in sexually explicit conduct for use in visual or print medium, a Class B felony under Arkansas Code § 5-27-303(a)(1), and distributing, possessing, or viewing matter depicting sexually explicit conduct involving a child, a Class C felony under ACA § 5-27-602(a)(2).

A warrant was issued for Gauvey’s arrest on Feb. 25 and bond was set at $45,000.

According to an affidavit for warrant of arrest filed by Detective Blake Ellis of the White County Sheriff’s Department, the investigation began Dec. 30, 2025, when Gauvey and his spouse came to the sheriff’s department regarding harassing communications. They reported that an adult female relative had begun posting on social media accusing Gauvey of soliciting nude images from minors and sexually assaulting minors.

Gauvey and his spouse were asked if a digital extraction of their phones could be conducted. Both signed consent-to-search forms and provided their phones to detectives, the affidavit states. However, before handing over his device, Gauvey began manipulating his phone in a manner that appeared to be deleting items from his camera roll, according to the affidavit.

On Jan. 8, 2026, detectives with an assisting agency contacted the female relative who had made the original social media post. She told investigators she had made a post accusing Gauvey of sexually assaulting her when she was a minor. Following that post, several other females contacted her privately claiming Gauvey had solicited nude images from them, the affidavit states. One female reported that Gauvey had spoken to her when she was a minor and he was an adult.

Detective Ellis located the female victim who made the solicitation disclosure, the affidavit states. She told investigators that over approximately two years while she was a juvenile, Gauvey had solicited nude images from her on multiple occasions. She also stated that Gauvey had sent her nude images of himself.

On Jan. 16, 2026, Ellis interviewed Gauvey at the White County Sheriff’s Office. Gauvey was provided a Rule 2.3 form and statement of rights, which he signed, and agreed to speak with the detective.

During the interview, Gauvey initially denied the allegations, the affidavit states. However, he eventually admitted to exchanging nude images with a female he knew to be a juvenile at the time. He further stated that he was an adult when the images were exchanged.

The alleged conduct occurred between Oct. 3, 2018, and Oct. 3, 2020, according to court documents.

Prosecuting Attorney Rebecca Reed McCoy filed the information in the Seventeenth Judicial District Circuit of Arkansas.
