BENTON, Ark. — A juvenile died early Saturday after being injured in a large fight in Saline County, and a Benton-area man has been booked on a manslaughter charge, according to the Saline County Sheriff’s Office and jail records.
Deputies responded at about 12:30 a.m. Sept. 19 to the 5300 block of N. Detonti Road on a report of a large fight in which a juvenile had been hurt, the sheriff’s office said.
The juvenile was taken to a local hospital for treatment and later died of his injuries. His name and age have not been released.
The sheriff’s office said an arrest has been made in connection with the incident but did not identify the person arrested.
Saline County jail records show Camryn Melton was booked into the Saline County Detention Center at 12:34 p.m. Saturday on a charge of manslaughter. No bond amount was listed as of Saturday evening. The records do not indicate whether Melton has an attorney.
The sheriff’s office said the case remains an active investigation and no additional information would be released at this time. Further details will be provided as they become available, the agency said.
