Tw people were shot in two unrelated incidents across Arkansas shortly after midnight Sunday, including two people wounded near Pike Avenue in North Little Rock and a man who claimed he was hit in the neck at his home in rural Polk County, according to emergency radio traffic monitored by ArkansasBreakingNews. After officers arrived they found the individual was not shot but rather extremely intoxicated.
North Little Rock
North Little Rock police were dispatched about 12:32 a.m. to the 1100 block of Parkway, near Pike Avenue and 44th Street, on a report of several people shot. Dispatchers told responding officers they had no information on a shooter, only that multiple people had been hit.
Officers arriving on scene confirmed two victims.
The first was a man with a gunshot wound to the lower leg. Officers reported they were controlling his bleeding while waiting for medics.
The second was a woman with a gunshot wound to the chest, and officers said she may have had a second chest wound. Radio traffic indicated officers performed CPR on her and applied a chest seal before an ambulance arrived. A MEMS supervisor reached the scene about 12:43 a.m., with a transport unit two minutes behind.

Both victims were taken to UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock shortly before 1 a.m. An officer followed the ambulance to the hospital. Their conditions had not been released as of Sunday morning.
Officers put out a lookout for a black Chevrolet Trailblazer last seen headed south on Pike Avenue. No description of a shooter was given over the air.
Several people were at the location when officers arrived. Supervisors called for additional units to help secure the area, taped off the scene and expanded it onto Pike Avenue. Officers held witnesses in patrol cars for preliminary statements and started a crime scene log.
Officers said a camera at the intersection of 44th Street and Pike Avenue appeared to have captured the entire incident, including the suspect vehicle.
Detectives were on scene by about 2 a.m., and the crime scene remained active past that hour.
Polk County
About a half-hour earlier and 130 miles to the west, a man at a home on Highway 246 West in the Hatfield area, southwest of Mena, told Polk County dispatchers just before midnight that he heard what sounded like a gunshot from north of his house and believed a bullet had passed close to his head. After officers arrived they found the individual was not shot but rather extremely intoxicated.
Moments later, about 12:02 a.m., the caller said he had been struck in the neck. Deputies and EMS were sent to the home.
The man went back inside his house after he was hit, and he told dispatchers he had not heard any additional shots.
A deputy on scene reported the man’s bleeding was under control with direct pressure. The deputy said he was still trying to determine what had happened and described it as “possibly” a night hunting incident, though that had not been confirmed.
Hatfield Fire Department was paged about 12:16 a.m. to set up a helicopter landing zone at the ball field near Hatfield school. The medical helicopter was canceled about 12:25 a.m., and the call ended without further radio traffic on the man’s condition.
