COTTON PLANT, Ark. — Arkansas State Police are investigating a homicide and battery after three people were shot Saturday, August 1, in the 300 block of Susie Avenue in Cotton Plant.
Woodruff County Sheriff’s Office deputies found Omari Chapple, 20, and Talisha Chapple, 40, both of Woodruff County, with gunshot wounds. Omari Chapple was taken by ambulance to Unity Health–White County Medical Center in Searcy, where he died from his injuries. Talisha Chapple was airlifted to Regional One Health in Memphis and was listed in stable condition.
Deputies learned that Annisia Atkins, 22, of Cotton Plant, also sustained a gunshot wound. Atkins was taken by private vehicle to Forrest City Medical Center and later airlifted to Regional One Health, where she remained in critical condition.
The Woodruff County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division. The investigation is ongoing, and no further information was released.
