Lake Village Bookkeeper Charged In $215K Theft

LAKE VILLAGE, Ark. — Special agents with the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division arrested Debra Chandler, 57, of Lake Village, on Tuesday on two felony counts of theft of property, ASP said.

The investigation began in December 2025 at the request of Tenth Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney Frank Spain.

According to Arkansas State Police, the investigation involved Chandler, the owner of Village Bookkeeping in Lake Village, and services she provided to the Chicot Junction Water System.

Investigators said Chandler stole $215,821 from the two entities.

Chandler was taken into custody, booked on the theft charges and released on a $50,000 bond, according to ASP.

The investigation is ongoing.
