HOT SPRINGS — A man was shot and killed early Thursday morning on Autumn Street, the Hot Springs Police Department confirmed in a press release.
Officers responded to a shots fired call at 241 Autumn Street at approximately 12:07 a.m. Thursday, where they found a man who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds, police said. The victim, identified as Eain Hughes, was pronounced dead at the scene by the coroner.
The department’s Criminal Investigations Division was notified and has assumed the investigation.
Emergency radio traffic overnight indicated a ShotSpotter gunfire detection system recorded two activations in the area at 12:06 a.m., with dispatchers taking 911 calls about three minutes later. Hot Springs Fire Department and LifeNet medics staged nearby until officers cleared them to enter the scene.
Radio traffic also indicated a possible suspect went toward a nearby apartment, and officers kept watch on the unit into the early morning hours. Fire crews returned around 3 a.m. to wash down the scene. Police have not confirmed those details, and no arrest has been announced.
The investigation is active and ongoing. Anyone with information regarding the case is asked to call the Hot Springs Police Department at 501-321-6789.
