Bay Man Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-555 in Rural Poinsett County

A Bay man was killed Friday, January 16, 2026, in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 555 southbound near the 13-mile marker in rural Poinsett County, according to the Arkansas State Police.

Larry Alton Neal, 56, was pronounced dead following the late-afternoon collision, which occurred at approximately 5:50 p.m. under cloudy skies on wet roadway. Neal was the driver of a 2000 Mazda traveling northbound on I-555 at the time of the crash.

According to the preliminary crash report, Neal’s vehicle struck the rear of a 2016 Ford also traveling northbound, causing the Mazda to leave the roadway and strike a cable barrier. The vehicle then began to overturn into the southbound lanes, where it was struck by a 2023 Freightliner traveling southbound. Three individuals were reported injured in the crash, in addition to the fatality.

Neal’s body was transported to DeLancey Funeral Home. Injured parties were taken to NEA Baptist hospital for treatment. The crash remains under investigation by the Arkansas State Police.
