A 42-year-old Imboden man died Monday, January 19, 2026, following a two-vehicle collision on U.S. Highway 63 at the Black River Bridge near Black Rock in Lawrence County, according to the Arkansas State Police.
George Koettel, 42, of Imboden, was fatally injured in the crash, which was reported at approximately 12:09 p.m. The collision occurred when a 2000 Mercury, traveling westbound on U.S. 63, lost control and crossed the center line, striking a 1997 Ford traveling eastbound on the same roadway.
Koettel was transported to St. Bernards Medical Center following the crash. Weather conditions at the time were reported as cloudy, with dry road conditions. His remains were held at Bryan Funeral Home.
The crash was investigated by the Arkansas State Police. No additional information regarding other occupants or injuries in the second vehicle was immediately available.
