Fayetteville Man Killed After Being Struck by Vehicle While Crossing Wedington Drive

A Fayetteville man was killed in the early morning hours of Monday, January 19, 2026, after being struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross a busy roadway on foot in Fayetteville, according to the Arkansas State Police.

Ryan Leathers, 52, of Fayetteville, was walking southbound across West Wedington Drive near North Steamboat Drive at approximately 4:46 a.m. when he was struck by an eastbound 2004 Ram 2500. Investigators noted that Leathers was crossing outside of a designated crosswalk at the time of the collision.

Conditions at the time of the crash were clear, with dry road surfaces. Leathers was transported to Washington Regional Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries. His remains were released to the Washington County Coroner. The investigation is being conducted by the Arkansas State Police.
