Woman Killed in Head-On Collision on U.S. 49 Near Brookland

A 53-year-old Imboden woman was killed Friday, January 23, 2026, in a two-vehicle collision on U.S. Highway 49 near Honeysuckle Road in the Brookland area of Craighead County, according to the Arkansas State Police.

Becky Annette Anderson, 53, of Imboden, was driving a 2018 Chevrolet southbound on U.S. 49 when a 2009 Ford, traveling northbound, crossed the center turn lane and struck her vehicle head-on in the southbound lane at approximately 4:45 p.m. Anderson’s vehicle left the west side of the highway and came to rest in a ditch. The northbound Ford also left the roadway and came to rest in a ditch following the impact.

Anderson was transported to NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her body was held at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital. Information regarding the driver of the northbound Ford was not included in the preliminary crash report.

Weather conditions at the time of the crash were clear, and the road surface was dry. The Arkansas State Police is investigating the crash.
