PINEBERGEN, Ark. — A 24-year-old Star City man was killed Tuesday afternoon in a head-on collision on Arkansas Highway 530 in Jefferson County, according to Arkansas State Police.
Kavion Winston was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Impala south on Highway 530 when he attempted to pass multiple vehicles near the Pinebergen Overpass at approximately 3:30 p.m. on June 30, 2026.
According to a preliminary fatal crash summary, the passing maneuver forced an oncoming 2016 GMC Sierra to veer off the roadway. Winston also veered off the highway and struck the pickup truck head on.
Winston died as a result of the crash. The driver of the Sierra, 24-year-old Shawn Wylie of Monticello, was transported to Jefferson County Medical Center for treatment of injuries.
Winston’s body was taken to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.
Arkansas State Police Trooper Reagan Eades investigated the crash, which occurred under clear skies and on dry roads.
